(um) Various demonstrative actions took place at Gänsemarkt on Saturday (23.08.2025). The gatherings had been confirmed by the Herford police under certain conditions. The motto of two of the gatherings belonged to the "lateral thinkers" spectrum. The organizers exploited the fundamental right to freedom of assembly in the form of freedom of expression. This was also opposed by an assembly at the Gänsemarkt / Janup entrance, which was made up of members of various parties and groups from the bourgeois camp. At its peak, 150 people joined a march through the city center of Herford. The gathering went off without incident or disruption and ended at around 17:00. At the same time, the city center was very busy with a market and festivities around the town hall, St. Mary's Church and the Old Market. Overall, the police gave a positive assessment of the operational concept. In addition, traffic disruption was kept to a minimum due to the numerous events.
