At the end of July, on a Friday evening (26 July) at around 7.15 p.m., two men rang the doorbell of a woman living on Am Wassergraben street. The men pretended to be employees of a utility company. By feigning false facts, including showing an alleged ID card to prove their identity, they managed to get into the house after the woman's initial skepticism. Suddenly and abruptly, they attacked the woman, who fell to the ground injured. Loud cries for help alerted neighbors to the situation and the strangers left the house in a hurry.
The attentive neighbors were able to identify a suspicious vehicle with Wilhelmshaven registration. Police officers from Wilhelmshaven police station carried out a check of the owner's address the following night. A 24-year-old from Wilhelmshaven was provisionally arrested.
As the investigation into the second suspect is still ongoing, a sketch of the previously unknown man has now been published by order of the Bielefeld district court. It is available in the NRW search portal at

The wanted man is about 170-180 cm tall and slim. He has a southern European appearance and was wearing a yellow high-visibility vest at the time of the crime. He is around 20 to 30 years old.
