(jd) An attentive witness noticed a cyclist on Wilhelmstraße at around 6.55 pm on Sunday (8.12.). The cyclist was riding in the direction of the Wilhelmstraße / Mathilde-Meyer-Straße traffic circle and attracted particular attention due to his unsafe riding style: On several occasions, he was unable to maintain his lane and swerved between the oncoming lane and the right-hand edge of the road. About 100 meters after the traffic circle, the unidentified man then crashed his bicycle into a parked Fiat. The impact caused him to fall onto the road. The witness stopped his car and looked after the stranger, who was apparently uninjured. In order to find the owner of the vehicle, the witness rang a doorbell - meanwhile the cyclist continued his journey without bothering to settle the claim. He then bumped into the witness's wing mirror, who called the police. A few minutes later, the officers came across the cyclist described, a 33-year-old man from Bünde, in the Elsestraße area. He showed clear signs of alcohol consumption, which was confirmed by a breath alcohol test carried out on the spot. The man was taken to the Bünder police station to have a blood sample taken, where he was released after the police measures had been completed. He was prohibited from continuing his journey. The owner of the Fiat, a 58-year-old woman from Bünder, was informed of the accident by the officers.
