(jd) The Herford criminal investigation department is asking possible witnesses for information in a particularly serious case of theft. The incident took place at the beginning of November: The owner of a sports store on Blücherplatz noticed a damaged lock on the front door at around 1 p.m. on Sunday (November 3) and informed the police. Inside the building, various shoe boxes - all containing shoes in size 44 - were opened. However, the shoes inside remained in the store. During an inventory, the owner then noticed that various table tennis bats and balls as well as other sports equipment had been stolen. In total, the unknown perpetrator or perpetrators took items worth over 20,000 euros. The owner had locked his store at 6.30 p.m. on the previous day. The criminal investigation department is therefore asking witnesses who observed anything conspicuous during this period to contact them on 05221/8880.
