A traffic accident occurred on Lübbecker Straße in Kirchlengern in the early hours of Thursday morning (August 15) in which a 76-year-old pedestrian from Kirchlengern was seriously injured. According to an analysis of the evidence so far, a 60-year-old KIA driver was driving along Lübbecker Straße from Elsestraße towards Bahnhofstraße at around 9.34 am. For reasons as yet unexplained, the driver from Kirchlengern left the road to the right shortly after the junction with Else. He hit a 76-year-old pedestrian who was on the sidewalk on Lübbecker Straße at the time. The pedestrian fell to the ground and was seriously injured in the head and hip area. She was taken to hospital in Bünde by ambulance.
The KIA went on to damage a wooden street sign before the journey ended in front of the wall of house number 26. The KIA driver was slightly injured in the accident and was taken to Herford hospital for further medical examination. It is suspected that health problems led to the accident. The property damage is estimated at around 6,300 euros.
