Cyclist injured in a fall

(jd) On Monday morning (17.3.) at 7.30 a.m., a 43-year-old from Hiddenhaus was riding his e-bike on Goltzstraße in the direction of Bünder Straße. At the Uhlandstraße junction, there was a group of young people on the side of the road. Suddenly, another young person ran onto the road to cross it and apparently run towards the group that was already waiting. To prevent a collision, the cyclist initially swerved out of the way. As the teenager also took a step back at that moment, the 43-year-old initiated emergency braking. He lost control of his e-bike and crashed onto the road. The group of young people fled the scene of the accident. Three girls, who were also walking towards the scene of the accident, then helped the cyclist, who was injured in the accident. According to initial investigations by the Herford police traffic department, the teenager who stepped onto the road was a 13-year-old from Herford. Further investigations by the traffic commissioner's office are ongoing. The first responders and other witnesses who can provide information about the accident are therefore being sought.
