(hd) On Monday evening (09.06.2025), a 54-year-old man from Herford entered a petrol station on Bismarckstraße in Herford at 6:15 pm. When the employee there pointed out to the man that smoking was prohibited, he reacted aggressively. He made loud threats. On leaving the petrol station building, he grabbed goods from the display and put them in a bag he had brought with him without paying for them. The petrol station employee and another woman followed the man outside. The 54-year-old then hit one of the women several times with the filled bag. Witnesses also observed that he hurled a bicycle in the direction of the injured party. He also briefly took a fire extinguisher and held it up threateningly. Petrol station customers and police officers who rushed to help were finally able to stop the man from doing anything else. The accused is now facing criminal proceedings.
