(jd) Attentive witnesses noticed a VW in Mühlenstraße at around 11.50 a.m. on Friday (11.10.). There were several men in the vehicle who were walking towards a detached house. The witnesses then went to see what was going on. The previously unknown driver of the Golf engaged the witnesses in conversation and honked his horn loudly several times. Meanwhile, the witnesses noticed that a person had left the detached house and fled on foot across an adjacent field. The driver of the VW also fled. The police officers who arrived noticed that the unknown persons had forcibly entered the house and rummaged through various cupboards and drawers. In the course of an immediate search of the area, the officers came across the VW and the driver described by the witnesses on Bünder Straße. The driver is a 35-year-old man from Bielefeld who has already made several police appearances. He was taken into custody in Herford. A short time later, another person described by the witnesses was found on a bus on Bünder Straße in Herford. The 49-year-old, who has no permanent residence in Germany, was also taken into police custody. The investigation into other people involved is still ongoing.
