(hd) According to current information, seven parallel assemblies will take place in the city of Herford on Saturday (17.05.2025). The police are preparing intensively for this operation and will protect the fundamental right to freedom of assembly with an increased deployment of forces. At 13:00, a kick-off rally with the theme "Demonstration for law and order - against left-wing extremism and lawless spaces" will take place on the Alter Markt in Herford. This assembly will then march through the city center and return to the starting point after an intermediate rally. The rally leader expects 250 participants. From 10:00 a.m. onwards, six assemblies will be held in the city center that will take a critical look at the first demonstration. Various alliances, clubs and associations have registered assemblies on the topics "For a society based on solidarity", "For democracy and open-mindedness - against the right", "For a Herford without Nazis", "Against right-wing violence", "Herford against the right - for democracy and diversity" and "Against the neo-Nazi march in Herford". At least 900 participants are currently expected at these gatherings. The aim of the police is to facilitate all of the above-mentioned gatherings, to protect the participants, to prevent disruptions and - if necessary - to consistently prosecute criminal offenses. The police have a particular duty of impartiality in this regard. Due to the assembly situation, traffic disruptions are to be expected in the city center on 17.05.2025, especially on the street Auf der Freiheit, in the vicinity of the market squares and around the train station. Citizens are asked to take this into account when making their personal plans. The police will continue to publish further information about the assembly.
