(um) On Saturday (08.02.), at around 11:22 p.m., a patrol car crew noticed a person lying on the hard shoulder or parking lane on Mindener Straße near the municipal theater. The 63-year-old man was lying injured and unconscious next to his pedelec. He was initially unresponsive. The officers immediately called an ambulance, which arrived a few minutes later and provided the man with medical care and together they were able to help him. During the handling of the situation, those involved noticed that the man was clearly impaired due to considerable previous alcohol consumption. After the man received medical treatment, a doctor had to take a blood sample at the order of the judge. A traffic accident report was then taken. According to the report, the man was riding on the footpath and cycle path and fell near the construction site, fell onto the parking lane and suffered serious injuries. In this context, the police would like to point out the increased danger when riding a pedelec. Due to the small wheels, the vehicle's center of gravity is so high that a fall is possible even on small bumps in the road. Wearing a helmet can help prevent serious head injuries.
