(jd) An attentive witness reported a traffic accident on Sunday morning (07.09.). A badly damaged Mercedes was located on Steinbrink Street - right next to the vehicle were a key and a wallet with ID documents. However, there was no trace of the driver of the vehicle. During the course of the accident investigation, a woman from Bünde appeared at the scene and claimed to have been driving the car: As a deer had crossed the road, she had lost control of the Mercedes. A little later, however, she admitted that she had not been driving the vehicle after all. When the officers then went to the address given on the identification documents, they encountered a 27-year-old man from Bünde who had minor injuries and had apparently consumed alcohol. A corresponding test was positive, so the man was taken to the Bünder police station, where two blood samples were taken and his driver's license was confiscated. According to initial investigations, he was driving on Steinbrink Straße in the direction of Muckumer Straße between 2.00 and 4.00 a.m. on Sunday night. He lost control of his car and initially drove across a meadow before coming to a halt in an adjacent wooded area. The damage amounts to around 10,000 euros.
