Hit and run

(jd) A 63-year-old woman from Herford was driving her VW on Elverdisser Straße in the direction of Werler Straße at 11.55 a.m. on Tuesday (21.11.). Suddenly and unexpectedly, a previously unknown person drove from a parking lot onto Elverdisser Straße, crashed into the VW and then drove off in the direction of Bielefeld. A witness told the police officers that the unknown driver was a 70-year-old man driving a silver or gray station wagon, presumably a Renault Megane. The Herford police traffic commissioner's office has taken over the investigation and is asking the unknown driver involved in the accident or other witnesses to contact them on 05221/8880. The damage to the VW is in the four-digit range.
