(jd) An attentive witness noticed two young men trying to push a car out of a ditch on Düttingdorfer Straße on Saturday night (July 6) and called the police. The officers came across two 18 and 20-year-old men from Spenger. Both stated that they had parked the car in a parking lot there some time previously. They returned later and noticed that the Mazda had rolled into the ditch. However, as there is a curb between the ditch and the parking lot, it is unlikely that the car simply rolled without the accelerator pedal being pressed. As both men showed signs of alcohol consumption, a voluntary breath test was carried out. This proved positive. According to an initial review of the video footage from the parking lot, which belongs to a car dealership, the driver of the Mazda drove into the parking lot from Düttingdorfer Straße at around 2:20 a.m. and then attempted to drive forward into a parking space. However, the driver, who according to initial findings could be the 20-year-old, drove over the kerb and the front of the Mazda slid into the ditch. Both men were taken to the Bünde police station, where blood samples were taken as ordered by the public prosecutor's office. The car was seized. After the police measures were completed, both were released on the spot.
