(jd) Attentive witnesses noticed a hit-and-run on Wednesday (23.7.) at 11.10 p.m. and informed the police: The previously unknown driver of a Mercedes tried to reverse into a parking space on Raiffeisenstraße and first touched a traffic sign. The rear of the car then crashed into the front of a parked Mercedes. The driver then continued his journey and drove into a nearby parking lot. From there, he made off on foot, albeit with an unsteady gait. The police officers who arrived met a person matching the witnesses' description at the Mercedes' owner's address. He was a 64-year-old man from Löhn who showed signs of alcohol consumption. A breath alcohol test carried out at the scene confirmed this assumption. The Löhner was then taken to the Löhn police station to have a blood sample taken. Here, the man's driving license was confiscated and he was banned from driving vehicles requiring a driving license. After the measures were completed, the 64-year-old was released on the spot. The Mercedes and the Opel, which belongs to a 23-year-old woman from Loehn, each sustained damage in the three-digit range.
