(jd) An 18-year-old woman from Herford informed the police yesterday (27.11.): She was at the junction of Salzufler Straße / Wiesestraße at around 8.48 p.m. and intended to cross the pedestrian lights there. At the same time, a previously unknown driver of a Mazda turned left from Wiesestraße onto Salzufler Straße. The vehicle hit the pedestrian, who suffered minor injuries that were later treated in a nearby hospital. As the 18-year-old managed to read the license plate number of the Mazda, whose driver continued his journey, she gave it to the officers. Investigations at the owner's address in Herford revealed that the car belonged to a 53-year-old man. He told the officers that there had been no contact between his car and a pedestrian. The Herford police traffic commissioner's office has taken over the investigation and is asking possible witnesses to call 05221/8880 to clarify the facts of the case.
