On Saturday evening (20 July), police officers were called to a physical altercation on Hermann-Löns-Straße. When the officers arrived, a 24-year-old victim was on the sidewalk with facial injuries and was given medical treatment by an ambulance crew. According to initial investigations, there had previously been a physical altercation with a 28-year-old from Hiddenhausen in which the woman was injured.

During the investigation, the suspect came out of the adjacent house and behaved aggressively towards the officers. He approached the officers and service dog in a threatening posture and repeatedly tried to keep a safe distance. The 28-year-old was first brought to the ground and restrained using simple physical force. He resisted and tried to evade further police measures by kicking the police officers. During the resistance, he insulted the officers several times. The man from Hiddenhausen was taken into temporary custody and taken to the police station in Herford. One police officer was slightly injured. The injured victim was taken to hospital in Minden by ambulance.

The 28-year-old is now facing criminal proceedings for causing grievous bodily harm, resisting law enforcement officers, insulting and threatening.
