(jd) A traffic accident occurred on Bielefelder Straße at 3.05 p.m. yesterday (5.11.). A 22-year-old man from Spenger was driving his Audi in the direction of Jöllenbeck and intended to turn right into a driveway. When he noticed that a scooter with two people on it was traveling in the same direction on the pavement/cycle path there, he aborted the turn and stopped his car. At the same time, the driver of the scooter lost control of the vehicle, began to sway and crashed into the Audi waiting on the road. The pillion passenger then righted the scooter and drove off. The police officers called to the scene discovered that the driver was a 14-year-old from Bielefeld who - like his pillion passenger - was not wearing a helmet. He was injured in the accident and taken to hospital. His legal guardians were informed about the accident. A search for the pillion rider and the white scooter in the immediate vicinity was unsuccessful. According to initial investigations, the pillion passenger is also a 14-year-old. With the support of officers from the Bielefeld police headquarters, he was found in Bielefeld as part of a manhunt. He was also slightly injured in the accident. The two 14-year-olds are now being investigated for, among other things, driving without a license. The damage to property amounts to around 4,500 euros.
