(jd) The employee of a supermarket on Deichkamp Street noticed a man taking several packs of cigarettes from the display in the checkout area at around 2.20 p.m. on Tuesday (June 24). The unidentified man then went back into the store and handed the cigarettes to another man, who put them in a rucksack he was carrying. Both men then passed through the checkout area, where they took more packs of cigarettes and walked towards the exit. Here they were approached by the employee and were detained until the police officers arrived. The men were a 33-year-old and a 37-year-old of no fixed abode, both of whom had previous convictions for similar offenses. The officers seized further goods from the supermarket from both men, including clothing and perfume. Both were taken into police custody in Herford.
