(jd) An attentive witness noticed several people smashing the windows of a rectory and a charitable organization on Münsterkirchplatz with stones at 7.12 am on Sunday (30.3.). A total of four windows were damaged by the violence. The witness immediately informed the police and provided descriptions of the people involved. The police officers who arrived spotted one of the people described, a 15-year-old from Preußisch Oldendorf, on a footpath near the scene. The 15-year-old had an e-bike with him, which had been reported stolen some time previously. As the search continued, the officers identified three other people who fled via Hämelinger Straße and Bahnhofstraße. From there, they first ran through a stream and then through various front gardens before they were found in a garden shed in Löhrstraße. The persons involved are a 14-year-old from Herford and two 15-year-olds from Löhne and Lehrte. All four people were taken to the police station in Herford, where they were handed over to their legal guardians after the police measures had been completed. Further investigations by the criminal investigation department are ongoing.
