(jd) During a patrol on Monday (2 June) at around 10.40 p.m., officers from the Herford district police authority noticed a bus driver at the Alter Markt who drew attention to himself. He told the officers that three unknown persons had taken cash from the bus till a few moments earlier. During a manhunt in the city center, the officers came across two of the persons described, who were 17-year-olds from Herford. When a 22-year-old woman from Herford identified herself as a witness to the theft during the investigation, one of the two 17-year-olds tried to violently assault the woman. He was prevented from doing so by the police officers, who then resisted verbally and physically and slightly injured an officer. Both men were then taken into custody in Herford to prevent further offenses. The search for the third male, who is around 165 to 175 cm tall and has short dark hair, was unsuccessful. Further witnesses who can provide information on the facts of the case are asked to contact 05221/8880.
