Traffic accident as a result of microsleep

(jd) On Friday (24.1.) at 10.31 p.m., a 56-year-old woman from Herford was driving her Nissan on Bünder Straße in the direction of Herford. At the same time, a 26-year-old woman from Lübbecke was driving her Seat in the opposite direction. Suddenly and unexpectedly, the Nissan crossed into the oncoming lane and collided with the Seat of the woman from Lübbecke. The 56-year-old woman told the police officers who were called that her eyes had closed briefly, causing her to drive into oncoming traffic. The officers confiscated the 56-year-old's driver's license. Property damage of around 22,000 euros was caused.
