Traffic accident while overtaking

(jd) A traffic accident occurred at 7.40 p.m. on Saturday (26.4.) on Schäferweg. A 26-year-old man from Melle was riding his motorcycle in the direction of Osnabrücker Straße. At the level of an overpass, he intended to overtake a car in front of him and therefore accelerated his motorcycle. During the overtaking maneuver, however, a 42-year-old woman from Rödinghausen drove towards him in her Ford. She swerved to the left to avoid a collision. As the 26-year-old was no longer able to slow down his rapidly accelerating motorcycle in time, he tried to drive between the Ford and the crash barrier. However, he collided with the crash barrier and sustained minor injuries. The police officers called determined that the 26-year-old was not in possession of a valid driver's license. He was therefore banned from driving vehicles requiring a license. The motorcycle also did not have the necessary liability insurance and had therefore already been taken out of service by the authorities some time ago. Overall, the damage to property amounted to a four-figure sum.
