Traffic accident with fatal outcome

(jd) A serious traffic accident occurred yesterday (25.3.) on Wehermhorststraße. A 31-year-old man from Rödinghausen was driving his Mercedes in the direction of Hansastrasse when he veered off the road to the right at around 2.43 p.m. and initially collided with two delineators. At the junction with the road Auf dem Hafk, the car then crashed into a tree, where it came to a halt. Witnesses called the emergency services. The man was flown to hospital in a rescue helicopter, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The accident was investigated with the assistance of the traffic accident investigation team from the Bielefeld police headquarters and the Herford traffic commissioner's office. The damage to property amounts to around 35,000 euros.
