Truck hits pedestrian

(jd) A 58-year-old man from Gütersloh was in his truck at the corner of Bügelstraße and Tribenstraße yesterday (11.3) at 2.00 pm. He left his vehicle briefly to ask a cab driver for directions to his destination. When he got back into his Mercedes truck, he let it roll back a short distance. However, an 86-year-old woman from Herford was directly behind the truck on the sidewalk and was hit by the truck. The woman was seriously injured by the collision. Witnesses looked after the pedestrian until the ambulance arrived. After initial treatment at the scene, she was taken to hospital for inpatient treatment.
