(hd) On Sunday (20.04.2025), two young offenders, aged 15 and 16, set off on an extensive theft spree. According to the current state of the investigation, it can be assumed that the two first broke into a daycare center on Alter Postweg in Herford. There they caused property damage estimated at at least 3000 euros. However, they were unable to steal any valuables. A little later, the perpetrators broke into an elementary school on Landsberger Straße. Here, too, they massively damaged doors and parts of the inventory. It was not initially possible to determine for certain whether any items were taken. In a sequence that cannot yet be determined, the two perpetrators finally broke into the cellars of various residential buildings on the streets Am Hundebach and An der None. The perpetrators were finally found in the immediate vicinity by police officers and provisionally arrested. At the time, they were carrying burglary tools, gloves and other items of evidentiary value. The two young people were brought before a magistrate. He issued a pre-trial detention order against the 15-year-old, who had already made extensive police appearances. His 16-year-old accomplice was released from police custody.
