Unauthorized removal from the scene of an accident

(jd) An 18-year-old woman from Rödinghausen was driving her Seat on Bünder Straße towards Herford at around 7.07 p.m. on Wednesday (18.12.). At the junction with Löhner Straße, she got into the left-hand turning lane and stopped her car for traffic reasons. At the same time, there was a Mercedes in the straight ahead lane, which then suddenly and abruptly turned right onto Löhner Straße. When turning, however, the vehicle swerved so far that it collided with the Seat. Instead of fulfilling his obligations as the party involved in the accident, the unknown driver continued on his way and the 18-year-old woman informed the police. On Bachstraße, the officers then came across the Mercedes, in the driver's seat of which was a 44-year-old man showing clear signs of alcohol consumption. A voluntary breath test clearly confirmed this assumption. Appropriate blood samples were taken at the Herford police station and the 44-year-old's driving license was confiscated. He was banned from driving vehicles requiring a license. Damage in the three-digit range was caused.
