(hd) A traffic accident occurred in Löhne on Thursday (01.05.2025) in which one person was injured. A 35-year-old man was riding his bicycle on the sidewalk of Lübbecker Straße in Löhne at around 19:00. At the junction with Dorfstraße, the cyclist fell and sustained several injuries which had to be treated in hospital. The 35-year-old was clearly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. A blood sample was taken. It is unclear whether a car that is said to have turned off Dorfstraße onto Lübbecker Straße contributed to the accident. If this was the case, the driver may have left the scene of the accident without permission. The vehicle is said to have been a silver or white compact car, probably a VW Golf or Polo. The traffic commissioner's office of the Herford district police authority has taken over the investigation and is asking the driver of the vehicle described or witnesses who can provide information about the course of the accident to call 05221 / 888-0.
