(jd) A 70-year-old woman from Bünde was walking her dog on the Bünde market square at around 10.30 a.m. on Saturday (May 31). Suddenly and unexpectedly, a dog unknown to her ran towards her, whereupon the Bünde woman's dog pulled on its lead. The 70-year-old, who is dependent on a walking frame, fell. The owner of the strange dog, who was around 40 to 60 years old, took advantage of the situation and reached into the 70-year-old's handbag, which was on the rollator. The woman, who was about 180 cm tall, stole a blue purse containing cash in the three-digit range. Witnesses who noticed the incident came to the aid of the woman from Bünder, while the unknown suspect quickly made off with her dog. The Herford criminal investigation department has taken over the investigation and is asking witnesses to the incident to contact them on 05221/8880.
