Unknown persons break into a house

(jd) The owner of a house in Narzissenstraße returned to his home at around 6.15 p.m. on Friday (27.12.) after a short absence. He heard noises from the upper floor and then saw the light of a flashlight. A few moments later, he heard the sound of footsteps coming from the first floor. The man from Vlotho immediately ran to a neighbor, from where he alerted the police. The officers who arrived discovered that the unknown perpetrator or perpetrators had forced a window at the rear of the house and removed it completely. Inside the house, they then ransacked several rooms in search of stolen goods. Presumably surprised by the appearance of the owner, the strangers then fled via a patio door. An immediate search of the area was unsuccessful. The Herford criminal investigation department has taken over the investigation and is asking possible witnesses who observed anything conspicuous in the area of Narzissenstraße between 3.30 and 6.15 p.m. on Friday to contact them on 05221/8880.
