(hd) On the night of May 1st, previously unknown perpetrators broke into a garden shed on Bäckerstraße in Herford. A witness had reported suspicious noises coming from the garden to the police at around 01:10. These were apparently caused by the door lock being forced open. Two pedelecs were stolen from the shed. The value of the stolen goods is estimated to be at least 5000 euros. The witness was able to describe four suspicious persons whom he had noticed in the area of the garden. All were male, between 25 and 35 years old. One person is said to have been wearing conspicuous white jeans and a full beard. Another person was wearing a black hoodie and gray pants. No further details can be given about the other suspects. A search was immediately launched and the suspects could not be found. The criminal investigation department has taken over the investigation. Further witnesses who can provide information on the facts of the case or the persons described are asked to contact the police by telephone (05221 / 888-0).
