On September 13, 2015, the citizens of the district of Herford elected Jürgen Müller to the office of district administrator for a term of six years. This is his first term in office.
In addition to his duties as head of the district administration, as the first representative of the district and as chairman of the district council and the district committee, the district administrator is also responsible for the management of the Kreispolizeibehörde (KPB).
Jürgen Müller is therefore the head of the Herford district police authority and the Herford district administration in a dual function as a district administrator directly elected by the citizens of the district.
In North Rhine-Westphalia, the state uses the municipal district councillors to manage a total of 29 district police authorities as part of the so-called "organ loan". The police presidents appointed by the NRW state government perform this task for the police headquarters in the independent cities.
In addition to many functions in committees, associations and institutions, District Administrator Jürgen Müller is a representative on the Landkreistag NRW, the association representing the interests of North Rhine-Westphalia's districts.
In his management role, he is responsible for around 800 employees of the district administration as well as around 380 police officers and pay-scale employees of the Herford police station.
Further information about District Administrator Jürgen Müller can be found on the Herford district website at
